Express Entry does not accept self-assessment. IRCC requires an approved test covering speaking, listening, reading and writing, using the exact test version accepted for the intended program.

Frequently asked questions
Is the general TCF the same as TCF Canada?
No. Immigration applicants must book the version specifically accepted by IRCC.
Can I use an academic English test?
Express Entry requires approved versions. For IELTS, that is General Training, not Academic.
How long are results usable?
For Express Entry, results must be less than two years old at the relevant stage and remain valid when applying.
